The Master’s thesis (subject selection, preparation and defence) can start at the 2nd
semester and can be completed (writing plus presentation) three months after the end of
the 2nd semester, i.e. at the end of a full calendar year. For the preparation of the Master's
Thesis the Coordinating Committee (following the candidate's application, in which the
proposed title of the Master's thesis, the proposed supervisor and a summary of the
proposed work) designates its supervisor. The supervisor is a member of the faculty, a
teacher or a visiting professor from the country or overseas having the same or related
scientific subject as the academic subject of the Master’s Program. At the same time, a
Three-member Advisory Committee is set up for the approval of the Master's Thesis, one
member of which is the Supervisor. The members of the Advisory Committee can be faculty
members, lecturers or visiting professors (local or foreign), with the same or related
scientific specialty as the subject of the Master’s Program. The supervisor can be replaced in
exceptional cases with the request of the supervisor or the postgraduate student and a
decision of the General Assembly of the Faculty of Medicine. The supervisor can be replaced
by one of the remaining members of the three-member committee, otherwise by another
faculty member at the proposal of the Master’s Coordinative Board and decision of the
School of Medicine General Assembly.

The presentation of the Master's Thesis can be done in front of the Three-member Advisory
Committee at a date and place determined by the General Assembly of the School of Medicine.
Following its approval by the Committee, it is posted on the website of the School of Medicine.
The postgraduate thesis can be defended by the postgraduate student on the condition that he
has successfully passed the exams of all classes. The dissertation can be a research or
systematic review study. In both cases, there will be a detailed report on how the specific
bibliographic references have been selected as well as the formulation of a specific research
question based on the recognition of a gap in the literature.

The structure of the thesis should be as follows: summary, introduction, methodology and
material, results, discussion, conclusion. Documentation of the writing of the thesis in English
will be encouraged for the possibility of publication in peer-reviewed foreign-language
scientific journals. By decision of the School of Medicine General Assembly, it is possible to
extend by one year the time for completion of the Master’s Thesis. The submitted work is
evaluated no later than three months after its submission. If this deadline passes, the subject is
deleted from the list and the study cycle is considered not to have been completed.

When the work is completed and written, it is submitted in four hard (4) copies to the
Master’s Program Secretariat, with the declaration of the supervising professor that it meets
the conditions to be entered for judgment and is designated by the committee. The thesis is
graded by the supervisor and the two members separately and the grade is forwarded to the
Program Secretariat. The average of the three graders is the final grade of the thesis. For the
final evaluation of the thesis, the postgraduate student must support it before the examining
committee.

The date and place of defendance for the diploma thesis is determined after consultation with
the regulatory committee of the thesis. The members of the Three-Member Advisory
Committee are encouraged to be present and the presentation can also be public. The
average score of the thesis by the members of the examination committee cannot be less than
six (6), otherwise it is rejected and the student does not complete the course.

After the presentation of the work and under the responsibility of the supervisor, an
assessment record is drawn up and signed by the members of the examination committee. A
condition for the examination of the postgraduate diploma thesis is that the student has
completed all his academic and financial obligations.
